Pair it with their unsweetened tea—a favorite among locals—for a refreshingly smooth finish.
The atmosphere at Baytown Seafood mirrors its humble, locally cherished status: unpretentious and comfortingly familiar. While the building itself carries a dated charm with dim lighting and simple decor reminiscent of old-school seafood shacks, its warmth comes from friendly servers donning fish-themed shirts, adding a playful nod to the coastal cuisine. Service here is attentive and genuine, with staff eager to ensure your meal is enjoyable, making it feel more like dining with friends than just another restaurant stop.
What truly stands out is the balanced experience of quality and value. Customers rave about the sizable portions—whether it’s the generous two-piece catfish and shrimp combo or the hearty chicken fried steak dinner, the meals are both filling and satisfying without stretching the wallet. “The batter on the fish and shrimp is what makes the food so good,” one guest noted, highlighting a distinctive flavor element that keeps people coming back.
Though the physical space might not boast modern refinements, the standout factor is undeniably the food. Crisp freshness, well-executed seasonings, and soulful Southern flair shine through every plate. From the addictive baytown sampler platter to richly seasoned blackened tilapia topped with etouffee, Baytown Seafood Restaurant delivers textured complexity and comfort in every forkful.

Picked this place because I was passing through Victoria and it was one of the only places open on Sunday. I’m floored by how good the food was ! Don’t be fooled by the dated appearance on the exterior! This place has fantastic food and great pricing! Will be back next time I’m in the area! It’s almost always better supporting local small businesses rather than chains! This place is a classic example, just the day before I spent over double for sub par service and food at a chain restaurant.
Very tasty, clean, and restaurant with options for a good price. I went around lunchtime so it wasn’t too busy. The server was very polite and many of the servers had on fish/sea themed shirts on so it added to the atmosphere. I ordered 3 catfish dinner which came with French fries and a salad. They do have Thousand Island dressing. The portion size is rather big; you get big size fried fish for what you order. Service was very quick as well my food was out before I even finished my salad. Good on refills, too. Overall very good experience ill probably eat here again!
My wife and I visited Victoria on a day away trip. Come time to eat, we stopped at Baytown Seafood Restaurant. We were not disappointed at all. We both got the grilled seafood platter. It was cooked to perfection . The tea was really smooth and our waitress was just as happy & friendly as could be. Give them a try if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.
The food is great! 2 piece catfish ,6 shrimp ,fries, and a salad for 19.99. Honestly this is alot even if your usual portion is big, I sugest the 1 piece catfish with 6 shrimp at $15.99 . The size of the catfish piece are big and the batter on the fish and shrimp is what makes the food so good. The chicken fried steak dinner was also really big. The wait time after your order will be about 10 minutes but your getting fresh fried food Totally worth !
The food was very good - nice fresh fish, perfect scallops without any sand, and tender shrimp. Blackened seasoning was just right. Grilled zucchini was nice as a side. Coleslaw was basic but a nice compliment. Service was good. The facility itself is tired. Nothing has been done other than a wipe down in at least 20 years inside or out. It's dimly lit with concrete floors and a drop ceiling. I almost took a star off for that, but the food was good.
We stopped for dinner while visiting Victoria, TX. I had grilled shrimp and hubby had crab legs. The loaded baked potato was hot and done to perfection with butter, cheese and sour creme. The coleslaw was some of the best we've ever had. My shrimp were large and blackened and well cooked. Hubby described his crab as excellent and some of the best and freshest crab he's ever had. We were too full to have dessert. It is a very casual setting. The service was very good and our server checked often to see if we needed anything. We also noticed they do a good carry out business as well. We will return the next time we visit Victoria.
